About Us

Honoring a Legacy, Building a Future
The Beckum Bronzeville Baseball Community Center is more than just a facility - it’s a movement rooted in purpose, legacy, and impact. Founded to carry forward the vision of James Beckum, a pioneer who transformed lives through baseball, this center is a hub where sports, education, and community empowerment meet.
Since 1964, the Beckum-Stapleton Little League has provided structure, opportunity, and inspiration to Milwaukee’s youth, especially in underserved neighborhoods. The new community center is an extension of that mission, offering safe and inclusive spaces for both recreation and learning.
Our Mission
To foster physical, mental, and emotional growth in Milwaukee’s youth by providing accessible, year-round programs in sports, education, and life skills — all built on a foundation of equity, inclusion, and community support.

Our Vision
Produce a resolute resource space that educates and generate opportunity for thousands of youth and adults through the training of baseball, perennial trades and health and wellness.
Why We Exist
While suburban communities across Wisconsin have long benefited from sports tourism and structured recreational programs, Milwaukee’s inner-city youth have been overlooked. With limited access to quality facilities, many are left without safe spaces to grow, learn, or simply play.
This center changes that. It will offer a constructive outlet for energy, promote physical and mental wellness, and open doors to career pathways in trades, technology, and healthcare — all under one roof.

Beckum’s Legacy Lives On
James Beckum didn’t just build a baseball league — he built a lifeline for thousands of youth. Today, we carry that legacy forward by making this community center a place where every child and adult has the chance to thrive, regardless of income, background, or ability.
