The Beckum Bronzeville Baseball Community Center
Empowering Milwaukee’s Future Through Sport, and Opportunity
For more than 60 years, the Beckum-Stapleton Little League has shaped youth through baseball, leadership, and mentorship. We are taking it to the next steps by building, The Beckum Bronzeville Baseball Community Center. A space that will offer year-round baseball training, life skills, and education programs for youth and adults in one of Wisconsin’s most under-served neighborhoods.
Why Milwaukee Needs This Center
The Beckum Bronzeville Baseball Community Center expands the efforts of the Beckum-Stapleton Little League to provide a safe space for recreation across Milwaukee. By partnering with local leaders and community organizations, the Center will help create a healthier and more active environment for young people in neighborhoods that have historically lacked these resources.
Our goal is to ensure that every child has access not only to baseball, but also to essential life skills that support healthy development into adulthood. The facility will serve as a welcoming, year-round space where youth can train, grow, and build meaningful connections with positive mentors.
Designed especially for families in low-to-moderate income communities, the Center will offer accessible baseball training and a safe place for consistent, structured activity, strengthening both personal development and community connection.

Asia Beckum carries forward the enduring spirit and legacy of her late grandfather, James Beckum. She began her journey in baseball at the age of six, making history as the first and only female player to earn the title of Most Valuable Player in a league dominated by boys. As a dedicated board member of the Beckum-Stapleton Little League for the past decade and the proud granddaughter of its founder, Asia has long felt a deep responsibility to build upon her family's legacy. Her leadership in developing this vital community center reflects both her commitment and a vision to provide a much-needed resource for the community, a true continuation of the work her grandfather began.
